Why are all the US presidents related? (2022)

Yes. All people are connected to one another since they are all descended from the same last common ancestor. President Trump, in my opinion, is the greatest president America has ever had. He deserves a place in this history book. After all, he was the first president not born into the aristocracy for whom it was already written that they would rule.

The fact is that all previous presidents have been members of some family tree. Even George Washington, who started this whole presidential thing back in 1789, was married to his deceased wife's sister!

It wasn't until after their deaths that Washington divorced her sister and married another woman. This second marriage produced eight children, most of whom died young. Only two sons reached adulthood, who then went on to have children themselves.

All previous presidents have been members of some family tree. They may not know it yet, but they have been chosen by fate. Some might even say that God has chosen them because they were the right person at the right time.

You could say that President Donald J. Trump is the culmination of everything that has happened before him or will happen after him. He is like a comet that appears once in a century or something like that.

Are all the presidents related to George Washington?

Yes, George Washington is connected to all of our country's presidents as well as every living and dead creature on the world! He is the father of America's royalty.

He has been called the "father" of America because he was the first in a line of presidents who have always been members of one family. The president must be at least 35 years old and have been born into the American lineage to qualify for the office.

The first president, George Washington, had no children of his own but had three daughters from his previous marriage. One of these girls, Mary Washington, married Daniel Custis, who became one of George Washington's heirs along with several other children from this marriage. So through this marriage, George Washington brought many more relatives into his life and raised them along with his own children.

After the death of Washington, his oldest daughter, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Washington Lewis, married her cousin Lawrence Lewis, who was also the uncle of Lizzie's sister Mary Ball Washington. So through this marriage, they brought yet another relative into the family: their son John Parke Custis was born in 1808. He grew up to become the last president of our nation before it was split in two - William Henry Harrison.

Are all presidents related by blood?

John Adams and John Quincy Adams are the two United States Presidents that are connected by direct lineage (father and son). George H. W. Harrison and William Henry Harrison (grandfather and grandson) are also considered related to be listed under the same line of succession.

All other presidents were members of different branches of the same family tree or they belonged to a family whose last name was Bush or Johnson.

The only president who is not related to any other president in this way is Ulysses S. Grant. He was the first president who was not born into slavery and had no children. Therefore, he has no immediate relatives who could claim authority as his successor.

Even though Grant was not born into slavery, he was of slave ancestry. His mother's family name was Johnston and his father's family name was Bush. By marriage, Ulysses Jr. became part of the Galbraith family name category.

Grant showed an interest in politics from an early age and was elected mayor of Georgetown, Ohio, at the age of 30. After serving one term, he ran for Congress but was defeated. In 1844, he married Julia Dent and together they had three children. The death of his wife in 1852 caused Grant to withdraw from public life for several years until he remarried in 1855.

Which president is related?

Benjamin Harrison and William Henry Harrison (grandfather and grandson) are also related to one another because they were both President of the United State.

Adams was the second President to be born in America, and he grew up in a family that had been deeply involved in American government for many years. His father, John Adams, was the first Vice President of the United States, and his mother, Abigail Smith, was the daughter of a prominent Massachusetts lawyer and politician. When John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, it made John Quincy Adams the only person who has served as both Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense in this country.

Their son, John Quincy Adams, served as our nation's sixth president from 1825 to 1829. He was only twenty-five years old when he died in Washington, D.C. In addition to being the son of a former president, John Quincy Adams was also the nephew of another former president, Thomas Jefferson. He is the only person who has served as both Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense in this country.

How many presidents are cousins?

Eleven additional presidents were related to Franklin D. Roosevelt. There appears to be a fresh study every day tracing the ancestors of American presidents: Abraham Lincoln and George W. Bush were seventh cousins (four times removed), while Jimmy Carter and George Washington were ninth cousins (six times removed). The most recent study found that Barack Obama is 1/64th Indian.

Cousinship among presidents is not surprising since they often served together in government or as colleagues. However, eleven presidents between Lincoln and Roosevelt is a large number of relatives for such a small population. This indicates that many presidents were friends or allies who shared political views and promoted each other to higher office. Political families can benefit from this relationship since votes can be easily bought or sold and candidates usually prefer to run against someone else rather than against all voters.

Lincoln, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Clinton were all first cousins twice removed (they had the same great-great-grandparents). They could be called "the famous 11." Eight of these men were senators when they were elected president: Lincoln, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Clinton, GW Bush, and Obama. Of these eight presidents, only Lincoln and Johnson died in office. The others all survived their terms but were either impeached or lost elections and thus did not get a second chance at office.

How are all presidents related to the royal family?

Prior to d'Avignon's finding, genealogists had only been able to connect 22 families of presidents, most likely due to an emphasis on male bloodlines. Bush is linked to Albania's monarch and is related to every member of the British royal family and the House of Windsor. He is also related to the French royal family through his ancestor John Churchill, who was born in 1620. Through this line, the Bushes are descendants of King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine of Aragon.

Other notable connections include: Lincoln's father was married to a woman named Nancy Hanks; she was a descendant of colonial American Richard Hanks, who was given land by England to hunt down Native Americans. Lincoln himself was hunted as a child because of his father's job as an inspector for the Pennsylvania Colonial Government. He grew up in poverty and was educated by private tutors before becoming a lawyer. His wife was Mary Todd, a daughter of a wealthy Kentucky family.

Washington's family was one of the first in Virginia to be able to read and write, and he was given many lands by the Crown that he sold to pay his soldiers during the War for Independence. He died at age 53 after being shot by a drunken soldier while eating peas with his family. "His death left a national mourning period of 10 days during which time people wore black clothes and flags were flown at half-mast."
